Multiway Equijoin Query Acceleration Using Hit-Lists
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a new data structure for multiway and general join query acceleration, the hit-list, and an algorithm for its use. The hit-list is a surrogate index providing the mapping between the values of two attributes in a relation participating in an equijoin or a selection. The results of an analytical model, simulation study, and an implementation are presented. The performance advantages of this approach are made clear, as well as the basis for these results in the attainment of full selectivity. Extensions of hit-lists are also examined.

The Impact of Using Combinatorial Optimisation for Static Caching of Posting Lists
Caching posting lists can reduce the amount of disk I/O required to evaluate a query. Current methods use optimisation procedures for maximising the cache hit ratio. A recent method selects posting lists for static caching in a greedy manner and obtains higher hit rates than standard cache eviction policies such as LRU and LFU. However, a greedy method does not formally guarantee an optimal sol...

Information retrieval can be achieved through computerized processes by generating a list of relevant responses to a query. The document processor, matching function and query analyzer are the main components of an information retrieval system. Document retrieval system is fundamentally based on: Boolean, vector-space, probabilistic, and language models. In this paper, a new methodology for mat...

متن کاملAcceleration of Shortest Path and Constrained Shortest Path Computation
We study acceleration methods for point-to-point shortest path and constrained shortest path computations in directed graphs, in particular in road and railroad networks. Our acceleration methods are allowed to use a preprocessing of the network data to create auxiliary information which is then used to speed-up shortest path queries. We focus on two methods based on Dijkstra’s algorithm for sh...
متن کاملApproximate Processing of Multiway Spatial Joins in Very Large Databases
Existing work on multiway spatial joins focuses on the retrieval of all exact solutions with no time limit for query processing. Depending on the query and data properties, however, exhaustive processing of multiway spatial joins can be prohibitively expensive due to the exponential nature of the problem. Furthermore, if there do not exist any exact solutions, the result will be empty even thou...
